Approximately 280 students will be selected for testing twice each week to help us monitor the prevalence of the virus on the Pittsburgh campus. Testing occurs monthly on the regional campuses as well. Students who are experiencing sytmptoms of COVID-19 should contact campus student health service. 

Self-Sampling First Steps

We’re randomly selecting students to get tested for COVID-19. Here’s how you can do your part.

Follow the email’s instructions and mark your calendar. 
  3. ARRIVE
ARRIVE
Show up at the test site as scheduled (remember to wear a face covering and bring your Pitt ID!). 

Self-Sampling in 9 Easy Steps

1. SANITIZE

Sanitize your hands.
  2. OPEN
open
Open your test kit. Place the barcode labels on the sample tube and bag.
  3. SWAB

Insert the nasal swab 1/2 inch horizontally into nostril until resistance is felt.
4. ROTATE
rotate
Rotate the swab, hold in place a few seconds. Use the same swab and repeat in other nostril.
  5. INSERT
ARRIVE
Snap off end of swab handle as directed. Insert the swab, tip first, in the sample tube.
  6. SEAL

Screw the cap on tightly and place the tube in the bag. Seal the bag.
7. PLACE

Place the bag on the table
  8. SANITIZE

Sanitize your hands.
  9. WAIT
ARRIVE
Wait for test staff to receive your sample and prompt you to leave.
